Re: Are we becoming obsessed with quality?

Too bad fellas. I feel like you're letting tradition determine the direction of your business. No one is more traditional than the american south. Yet somehow here we are. It wasn't easy but its...

Re: Are we becoming obsessed with quality?

Sorry that you feel like this is so locked down and no way to change it. It's just hard to believe. I used to feel the same way about my town until I stopped telling myself and everyone else it's not...

Re: Are we becoming obsessed with quality?

Noa,
I don't know you nor have I ever been to your country, but if they have money to spend on photo then they have it to spend on video. You just have to find a way to motivate them. The fact that...

Re: Are we becoming obsessed with quality?

Roger,
This is what I find interesting about our industry. If 80% do not hire a videographer, then that is an empowering number to target. We know it's important and we know that once they have it,...

Re: Are we becoming obsessed with quality?

You know. All of this talk about market restrictions and who's buying video and who's not is very depressing. I think it's important for all of us to decide what we really want to do and stop...

Re: Wedding Cost up for 2012

I'm not the least bit concerned with averages or surveys. Why does this matter? What matters is what I get paid, not what's average.

Re: talk me out of it.

All good stuff. Thanks everyone for trying to talk me down. I definitely want it not need it. But here's a few thoughts. It would not necessarily make me money but it would save me time. I don't use...

Re: talk me out of it.

Ok. So...
1. I want it for easier adjustment in post and not to have to synch audio.
It would save a lot of.time and frustration in post.
2. I have plenty of lenses .
3. I only use the HMC for a...

talk me out of it.

Ok. I'm on a C100 kick again. I can't afford it. I have a 5DmkIII. a 6D, and a 60D as well as an HMC-150. If I sold the 6D and the HMC150, I would be about halfway there. I can't see it being worth...

Glen look into the matchsticks from microphone madness. That's what I use and they're awesome.

Re: 6D vs MK3 colours

Well I guess what I was trying to say is that opinions on moire are relative to your situation. If I'm shooting bricks or have a tight pattern in a narrative piece, I'll take into account the best...

Re: 6D vs MK3 colours

Jeff
I have never had a shot ruined by moire. Out of three years using the mkII and 2 before that using the A1 it was never an issue. Did I see it? Occasionally but I seemed to be the only one who...

Re: 6D vs MK3 colours

Tariq,
I have a 6D and a MkIII and to my eye all the way up to ISO 10,000 they are pretty much the same. I've not even seen the dreaded Moire duh duh duh! But I'm also not really using it for that....

Re: Product differentiation

Thanks Noel,
No offense taken. I really just figured out how to do a short form. Through watching Adam Forgione's stuff. I realized that I spending a lot of time trying to make a 1hr video work...

Re: Product differentiation

Adrian
I think product differentiation is EVERYTHING! But. If you commoditize your video then it just comes down to price. What sells your video for you is the emotional connection you can make...

Re: Moire and aliasing issues on Canon 6D

Noa,
I do think it's a funny discussion. I shot many a brick wall with the mkII and I always saw the moire, but clients never noticed or said anything. Just in case, I'll be sure to use the mkIII...

Re: Moire and aliasing issues on Canon 6D

I think these threads are always interesting. I have the mkIII and the 6D and I used to have the mkII. I see a night and day difference with the mkII and III in low light especially. But that's from...
