Re: Anyone given up on the DSLR for event?

Come to think of it, any smudge on my "proper" video camera lens and the image would be ruined. I remember working with photographers and I'd see their dirty lenses and they'd have no problem. I was...

Re: Anyone given up on the DSLR for event?

I've shot about 100 DSLR weddings and never had a problem with dust or dirt. I change lenses on the beach and not a problem. Nice try though.

Re: Wedding Videography Decorum

Unlike the Royal Wedding, here in the States the guests hold their cell phones in the aisle to take photos. The guests here would block many of those Royal cameras. Philip, did you see the Royal...

Re: Your actions when bride cut filming in half?

I agree. I wouldn't pay any service in full until the work was completed.

Re: Your actions when bride cut filming in half?

Corey, I'm your neighbor here in NJ and the economy has not hurt the wedding business at all. My #'s have grown steadily the past few years. No one is paying me with credit cards..always a personal...

Re: Your actions when bride cut filming in half?

This will be the reality: She cut your pay in half but when you arrive, you'll see a $10,000 dress, expensive flowers, expensive limos, Surf n Turf served to the guests, a desert menu that is out of...

Re: Anyone given up on the DSLR for event?

I've been shooting DSLR since the end of 2009 and never had a bride mention any of this. Since I've started DSLR, my business has greatly increased. I shoot closeups all day.

Re: Anyone given up on the DSLR for event?

My clients have the option of purchasing a package where I film with a "proper video camera" or a DSLR.
In my consultations, I show them samples of both and I charge more for the DSLR. I haven't...

Re: GH2 and 135 F/2.0, anyone using for ceremony?

Jeff, I use the 135mm 2.0 on my Canon 60D. It's great for the ceremony and toasts. I can get tight in low light situations without having to stand so close to the subject. I definitely recommend it.

Re: DSLRs: am I just being paranoid?

Photographers have told me they don't want to inhibit the results of a $1,500 lens with a $70 filter. They use the sun-shade to protect their lens against scratches.

Re: DSLRs: am I just being paranoid?

Bill, it makes you wonder why anyone would switch from "proper" video cams to DSLR, but they do. Now since they do, there must be some advantages..right?

Re: Lessons Learnt - From that first wedding

Two accessories I wish I had back in 1992 would be a GPS and a cell phone. Brides used to hand write the directions to her house and it would be like "Go 14 traffic lights and make a left". I'd...

Re: Not Only Our First DSLR Wedding, But First Wedding EVER! Christi + Daniel Highlig

I think you did a great job! I also think the song does work. It's a happy song and a happy video. However, don't ever use songs that you are not comfortable with. It is after all, your name you...

Re: What should I look for in a 2nd Shooter?

Chris, if as a male, you can't be in the brides room while she's getting dressed, then the footage you are missing can't really go into the edited video anyway. Those female photogs that are in the...

The videographer admits to having personal problems. Maybe he had a death in his family and it has set him back. The guy may deserve some slack.

Re: Mono Pod too squeaky

I've tried WD40 and Silicone Spray. But they seemed to dry up and the noise came back. I just tried Tri-Flow Superior Lubricant and that seems to be working. Whatever you use, keep some in your...
