Re: Canon 1DC price

I'm guessing not. We've shot all Canon for a long time, I follow this very closely and I've seen no great enthusiasm for it, but a lot of comments to the opposite.

We were obvious customers ready...

Re: GH3: Buzz buzz b-buzz

Got one arriving tomorrow Bill.
Also really interested to shoot some comparisons.
What are you comparing it with?

Re: Canon 1DC price

I've been trying to figure out the whole Cinema EOS logic, in 2012 terms, since they arrived.

Re: MKIII - FCPX H264 vs ProRes 422

Dave, the color masks in FCPX are not key framable.

It's been one of our biggest requests for Apple.

Re: MKIII - FCPX H264 vs ProRes 422

The color board is really fast in FCPX, I love that you can throw several corrections and masks on a clip in a couple of minutes - they still need to make the masks keyframable - (but I just got a...

Re: Canon C500 used on Saturday Night Live

By the way Charles, I'm loving K&P.

Re: MKIII - FCPX H264 vs ProRes 422

To confirm what you say Evan, I was mainly concerned with the issues of working with h.264 in the timeline s far as transcoding all of our work.

We had a real quick turn around piece a while back...

Re: Canon C500 used on Saturday Night Live

Yes, blown, flat, exteriors and exaggerated warm interiors; none of it showing the potential of the camera.

It could have been shot well with an FS100 or AF100 and looked better.

Re: Had to share: BH Photo 0% on C300 !!!

" Even though most end consumers can not see the difference between 1080, and 720."

End consumers don't know a lot of the differences about a lot of what we do.

But the clients that pay for our...

Re: Had to share: BH Photo 0% on C300 !!!

Thanks Jim. And I don't want to sound like a squeaky wheel, but I also don't want to switch everything to Sony this year, we'd really like to continue to shoot with Canon.

We've looked at 1-DCs as...

Re: Had to share: BH Photo 0% on C300 !!!

We were initially excited about the program from a business standpoint. If Canon announced a 60p upgrade before the first of the year, they'd get our business and that of a lot of other production...

Re: Sony announces new 4K camera systems PMW-F55 and PMW-5

I hope so too Paul.
We were going to get a pair of Scarlet packages for an upcoming project after we realized there was not going to be any 60p on the C300s (our first choice.)
We've put all...

Re: Sony announces new 4K camera systems PMW-F55 and PMW-5

Yes, I've always had the best VFs on our cameras but there's a big difference between "not budget cameras" and a $10-15k evf in this market.

For instance the Red Bomb OLED is less than $4k,...

Re: Sony announces new 4K camera systems PMW-F55 and PMW-5

Seriously Paul, you actually think Sony is going to charge $10 - $15k or more for a VF?

Re: Sony announces new 4K camera systems PMW-F55 and PMW-5

There's an enormous amount to like about these cameras at this stage.

For obvious reasons (F65, F3) I have a lot of confidence that the image quality will be world class.
The cameras themselves...

Re: Next year: uncompressed HDMI output on Canon 5D Mk. III

I'll say this as a company that was committed to Canon for years. I've been very vocal in my disappointment in the C line for the same reasons as you state Emmanuel.

I run a pretty busy...

Re: Canon EOS C100

Basically, the F5 is everything we hoped the C300 was going to be and a bunch more.

We've certainly shot but never owned Sony, and aside from a JVC and Panasonic camera, always owned Canons.

Re: Next year: uncompressed HDMI output on Canon 5D Mk. III

Exactly, they're about to lose one small company's 20 year loyalty and $ to Sony and a few Metabones adapters.

Re: Next year: uncompressed HDMI output on Canon 5D Mk. III

Right. And just like the 5DII was used at virtually every level of production from commercials to feature film work, so much talk around the forums is around using the C100 with it's HDMI out for...

Re: Next year: uncompressed HDMI output on Canon 5D Mk. III

Precisely our consideration Nigel. We (most production teams) have all the rigging we need to set up any camera. The whole point of the C line, as we understood it, was to give us the full package in...

Re: Canon EOS C100

For a camera they've aimed at the one man production market, it's actually stunning that the EVF is considered so poor by virtually every handler so far. It's the first thing I commented on when I...

Re: Canon EOS C100

Couldn't agree more Charles.
I use multiple windows and extensive grading daily just to have a quality image, as we do in photography.
We rarely add a "look" to our work. We get that on...

Re: Canon EOS C100

As I said Glen, the question is which 60p camera to GO with the C100/C300

Of course we all know there's no 60p on either. But as a shop that's been shooting with Canons for years, has sets of L...

Re: Canon EOS C100

There's a lot to like about this camera, although our biggest issue with it and the C300 is finding the best match for it when we need 60p 1080 (which is a lot).

The one thing that's really...

Re: New! Blackmagic 2.5K Raw cinema camera!

It's all about perspective, but for anyone producing professionally for years, these cameras are dirt cheap.
Our Canon XL2 s with mini35s cost about 20k each without lenses. We're not...
