Re: anyone ever shoot video with the canon eos m?
There have been no reports of overheating that I have seen (and I have read everything I could on this camera), and I have had no personal overheating events (unlike my Sony NEX-5N) in extensive...

Re: Time out for a video
Thanks, Al. On kludge: it was an absolutely brilliant suggestion you made given the OP's need; I was just saying that with the ML installed, it is not needed and one can use any mic. Using ML (there...

Re: EOS M thread
The "horrible" refers to *your* ability to hold the camera still? Right? Or what? There is no dispute among any professional viewers that the EOS-M's ability to shoot stills or video is any worse...

Magic Lantern is almost ready to go on the EOS-M
Forget this kludge - use the best microphone for the job. You can very soon (even now) do exactly what you want with the EOS-M:
Magic Lantern is working right now on the EOS-M (but not quite...

Re: EOS M thread
I don't get it - you blame the camera for your inability to hold steady a very sharp, non-IS lens? So get an IS lens.
I also have trouble holding the 22mm+M steady, but then I would have that...

Re: what does the * icon do on the M?
Thanks, for the details. It is pixel size that matters, and the Panasonic packs more pixels in a smaller space so the pixels are smaller.
It is possible that the Panasonic GH2 may be better in...

Re: what does the * icon do on the M?
The video bitrate is 45 Mbps (108030p and 108024p), higher than almost all camcorders. The bitrate is not the problem, and a higher bitrate will not help with low-light noise. The G2 has a...

Re: what does the * icon do on the M?
The EOS-M sensor and processor are *exactly* the same as Canon's APS-C DSLRs, so what are you comparing the EOS-M video to? It is just a small-body version, without mirror, of the Canon big cameras....

Re: what does the * icon do on the M?
The * icon is really important for video: it is the equivalent of a focus/ae lock button. In settings, you determine what the * does: it can be both af and ae lock, or af lock only, or ae lock only....

Re: EOS M thread
Connecting the usb cable from the EOS-M to the computer provides two features: 1. It should enable you to see the video files on the sd card, just like a card reader. You can then play them, copy...

Re: Cheapest Camcorder with full manual settings.
I own an EOS-M. It has FULL manual control in video mode: aperture, shutter, and ISO. You have the option of auto ISO in manual mode. You do not need 'Magic Lantern.' The EOS-M also has full manual...

Here is a real video, using the 14-140mm manual zoom lens to shoot sports(!) with a GH1 at 72060p. Zooming works quite well:
