Re: Sneak Peek at Sony POV

If we are going to critique (as is wanted), let's get it correct:

The sky in this video is not "oversaturated" it is *overexposed* - the clouds are white blobs and the sky is too bright blue. This...

Re: Sneak Peek at Sony POV

Woody has given an excellent review. It is inevitable that folks will compare with the new GoPro 3. There are two advantages the Sony has:

1. The built-in stabilization, as Woody has mentioned.

Lynne: "Mark, am I right in thinking that, in order to wear the camera around one's head, you have to buy (1) the headband strap itself and (2) a plastic case (either waterproof or open-air)...both...

Re: Sneak Peek at Sony POV

There are *two* headband options - one for the camera in the case and one for the camera without the case. For all-day use the latter would presumably be better, if you are not in the rain.

Re: Sneak Peek at Sony POV

Sony is making available reuseable anti-fog inserts for the waterproof case to prevent condensation. These may also reduce any rattling, as they are like pads:

Re: Sneak Peek at Sony POV

Like Woody, I am enjoying my Action Cam. Here is a time lapse from Grand Central Terminal, one of the darkest and busiest major train stations in the world:

Re: GoPro Protune

The "vito cayo" video looks much better, and not too bad. And I like the Protune color, even straight out of the camera, compared with the non Protune alternative. But the quality is still far below...

Re: Sneak Peek at Sony POV

This "Snake Run" video is also terrible - blotchy and low resolution as heck. This cannot be what the camera produces - I have seen much better. What is going on?

Re: GoPro Protune

Everyone: I really appreciate the videos with the new Protune settings, but what I have seen so far is horrifying: jello and incredible noise (relative to non-Protune in the latter case). I do see...

Re: Sneak Peek at Sony POV

"Mark, down res'ing from 1080 to 720 does not cause video to be "blotchy". Resolution size is not the only factor in determining quality for upload to youtube. It doesn't matter if you export 1080 or...

Re: Sneak Peek at Sony POV

You also need to specify the settings: stabilization on or off? view is 170 or 120? resolution is 1080 or 720? slo mo or not?

Re: Sneak Peek at Sony POV

If the video posted above (Sony Action Cam in-car test) is a fair representation of what the camera produces, and was not recompressed twice or something, the resolution is abysmal: everything is...

Re: Sneak Peek at Sony POV

1. Class 6 is fine.

2. I have windjammers; one is large enough to cover both mics but you will have to trim them to fit as the mic holes are close to the lens.
