Re: new camera: Panasonic AG-HPX250
"In an industry so linked to style, you would think they would have done a better job of packaging."
Shallow as it sounds, i have to agree. This looks like a chubby consumer camcorder. The HVX...

re: HyperDeck Shuttle from Blackmagic Design
Felix
Excuse my ignorance, but i'm slightly baffled as to the point of this thing.
So having transcoded you'd create new files and dump the originals? I mean who wants these kind of file sizes...

the costs have come down a lot lately.
They have, but they are still overpriced for what they are IMO. The other issue is that many will want to record to AVC Intra at 100 mbs so even though the cards are getting cheaper, they still work...

Re: any card over 60MB/s is overkill, correct?
I'm getting Deja Vu here, and thinking back to the days when we were encouraged to buy DV CAM tapes instead of cheap and cheerful DV tapes, and later on HDV tapes when normal ones worked just fine. I...

Re: HPX370 vs. HPX2000
Well it may be interesting, but i suspect that once all the bells and whistles are added on it will be way out of my price range. A mate of mine has a red, and even the "Red" CF cards cost several...

By the time the Red Scarlet turns up you may be too old to lift the thing. I'm so bored of hearing about this camera that was "on its way" years ago.

Good points. There's a lot to be said for owning a camera, knowing how to get the best out of it, and knowing where everything is without having to think about it.
I think there is a great...

Re: HPX370 vs. HPX2000
Dan Brockett
Good post, but i've often noticed different people have different ideas about what "paying off" a camera purchase entails. Some think that because they have a 5k job their new EX1 -...

Re: How do I do low light filming with the XF300
Some are saying that this camera's 4:2:2 codec stands a good bit of post manipulation. It could be that if you shoot as bright as you can in the normal way, without too much gain, you can brighten it...

Re: Canon XF100 - Help Me Decide!
vince,
if your focus is training videos then there are many options already available, but if you're looking for a small camera for broadcast doco's then the canon is hard to beat. With NAB around...

Re: What CF Card?
I just read the following which suggests that even the highest spec X600 UDMA Transcend cards won't work with these cameras. Anyone tried shooting slow-mo with the less expensive cards?

Re: Who's going to NAB
OK Mike, Thursday is good too. On your link it says £10.00 per person plus ticket fee for "earlybird price".
What is the tenner for if the ticket price is additional? And how much is the ticket...

Re: Apple's Thunderbolt for the video editor.
I'm interested in the 13" MBP. Any ideas how much of a difference the integrated graphics card would be compared to the 15" AMD standalone card?
I'd rather save the cash and get a nice monitor and...
