Re: 4K BM “pocket” camera for weddings
I've had photographers comment on the amount of gear and cameras I have. Then again I've encountered teams of 3 Photographers covering a Wedding not to mention those packed with lighting gear,...

Re: 4K BM “pocket” camera for weddings
It's been confirmed that the Pocket 4K can fit onto the Ronin S, so I may well have a use for it at Weddings. I could use a dedicated camera just for gimbal, leaving my GH5s which I currently use as...

Re: Step up from the 70D?
It's not a bad camera. Quite popular when it came out and a good price too if that's a consideration. You'll need an adaptor for your lenses and I'm not sure if that affects auto focus. A good...

Re: 4K BM “pocket” camera for weddings
I use 128gb cards and go through 2 for most Weddings. Occasionally 1 and a bit for smaller Weddings and 2 and a bit cards for big Weddings. I'm not sure what the file size is for the Pocket 4K. ...

Re: 4K BM “pocket” camera for weddings
I did bump into an assistant Photographer who boasted he filmed Weddings on a Red camera with enormous file sizes. I assume he was targetting the Highlights only customers. Those who feel a Wedding...

Re: 4K BM “pocket” camera for weddings
Best out of GH5 and that's 400mbps. I don't shoot that for Weddings. Shooting 150mbps every Wedding and I've got so many hard drives already, I'm almost out of letters to assign them to. :). I'm...

Re: 4K BM “pocket” camera for weddings
Even if you factor out the lack of IBIS, the lack of flip screen, poor battery life, larger file sizes and possible issues - have we forgotten the infamous black sun - will make this camera less...

Re: Step up from the 70D?
Unless shooting 4K and your A camera suggests not, then the EOS R is a viable choice. Lighter, so less strain on the arms than balancing a C100. With an adapter will work with your existing lens,...

Re: "best" small camera for Gimbal and B roll?
Be fair, HD was the first major upgrade to picture resolution for TV for decades. HD had considerably less time as top resolution before 4K came along. I agree about 8K, but in time with HDR linked...

Re: "best" small camera for Gimbal and B roll?
An amusing video. YouTube's full of opinion stuff like this that I dare say, you can probably find one arguing the World is flat with some credibility. It's an old video as 4K content is now readily...

Re: 4K BM “pocket” camera for weddings
The recent announcement of a new Black magic RAW sounds promising and further extends the potential of this camera, should it be passed down to it and not just the URSA. I wasn't sure if it use this...

Re: "best" small camera for Gimbal and B roll?
So basically, you're looking for a smallform camera with excellent 4K, no crop, great lowlight, excellent auto focus, as good as Canon, can take your current lenses and has no time limit on...

Re: "best" small camera for Gimbal and B roll?
GH5 isn't so bad in lowlight. Not as good as fullframe granted, but better than some would have you believe. Besides the GH5s is very good in lowlight. I use it in tandem with my GH5. Great...

Re: "best" small camera for Gimbal and B roll?
As you say the EOS R is promising. I think for someone in your shoes, I'd go for that. It's disadvantages of a 4K crop and lack of IBIS is less relevant if used with your current lens and as a...

Re: 4K BM “pocket” camera for weddings
I have the vLog upgrade, so no baked in look for me and technically HDR is possible in 50p 4K, though more potential for issues due to not being 10 bit. There's no perfect camera for every video job.

Re: 4K BM “pocket” camera for weddings
No. So not really a handheld camera. Except you can carry it by hand and not mount on a shoulder. But really, it needs a tripod. Gimbal and other accessories to bring it to life. Latest rumours...

Re: 4K BM “pocket” camera for weddings
I know. I was more talking about the large number of mirrorless announcements in recent weeks. Besides Canon isn't technically fullframe either if you're shooting 4K. :)

Re: 4K BM “pocket” camera for weddings
I see Fuji have stepped up with 10 bit 4K 60p. Albeit 4:2:0. First Nikon, then Canon, now Fuji and soon Panasonic's assuming it is what the rumours say it is. Have we ever had such a large group...

Re: 4K BM “pocket” camera for weddings
My mistake. I was confusing with the timecode feature in the GH5 rather than timecode inpit/output. Not a feature I have used or even looked into. Obviously as I've only 1 camera with it. Still...

Re: 4K BM “pocket” camera for weddings
Aside from the fact the clip limit isn't limited to EU, theres the small matter that Canon charges more for their gear anyway; makes me thing there not that worried about extra costs. I don't think...

Re: 4K BM “pocket” camera for weddings
I was intrigued by the Nikon. I prefer Nikon to Canon anyway and Sony has never grabbed me. It still has some limitations but it's worth getting interested over if fullframe mirrorless is something...

Re: 4K BM “pocket” camera for weddings
My GH cameras have timecode, and I don't see the BMPCC4K camera as a good multicam option in say something like a Wedding Ceremony. More indie movies, documentaries, promo videos and music videos.

To be fair I never use Neat Video either and much of the time I'm very happy with low light video from my cameras. Having worked with Sony full frame, you can't help but see the difference. Even...

Re: 4K BM “pocket” camera for weddings
Thing is Noa, I've worked with Sony full frame footage from a colleague's camera. It's cleaner and still maintains some depth of field. I can never get my cameras that clean even at 0.95 aperture. ...
