Re: C300 MkII Slow Motion Mode - Optical IS disabled?

I think Mathew wants to know if those lenses work in the "non-cropped" Slow and Fast Motion recording mode.

I tried the only IS lens I have, the 17-55m EF-S 2.8 IS, and I can report that it does...

Re: C300 MkII Slow Motion Mode - Optical IS disabled?

Dan...just a fwiw. What Mathew is talking about is canon's special "slow and fast" motion mode...which allows you to select a variety of frame rates (1-120fps) that automatically get recorded as a...

Re: New Canon Promotions Including $4,000 Instant Savings on C300mkII

I was only a tiny bit mad about the price drop...I've had my camera for 7 months and I've certainly put a lot of work through it. But then this morning I noticed that BH photo is bundling the $19k...

Re: Let's hope the long wait is over...

Taking a look at the list of topics in the link I posted, to me this sounds a lot like a written drivers license test. Depending on how the FAA want to play this, it could be as simple as reading a...

FAA has a page outlining the process, and describing the "initial aeronautical knowledge" test criteria.

Re: XLR without top handle?

it fits my sennheisers, unlike the old c300 which fit nothing, I believe. (for that I wrapped a couple of thick rubber bands around the mic barrel until it fit...also tried gaffers tape and strips of...

Re: C300 and C300 Mark II color matching

I don't do it often, but on the occasions when I've shot in 12-bit, it's pretty amazing where you can take the skin tones. I'm usually starting out with a pretty perfect exposure, and a neutrally...

Re: C300 and C300 Mark II color matching

The issues you raise are definitely the dilemma with the new camera. As much as I loved the image off my old c300, it's really no match for the new camera. As you said the white balancing of the new...

Re: XLR without top handle?

You didn't mention what camera you were talking about. But certainly there are mini plug to XLR cables out there. Definitely you want to keep to shorter lengths of cable though. I have an 18" xlr to...

Re: New Canon 18-80mm Compact Servo Lens and ME200S-SH Multi-Purpose Camera Announced

Thanks for pointing that out. I wasn't aware. From the dimensions on BH site, it looks like the lens's 31.4 mm image circle might just clear the 26.9 x 14.2 window of the 1DxII, although my guess is...

Re: New Canon 18-80mm Compact Servo Lens and ME200S-SH Multi-Purpose Camera Announced

Hi Douglas,

While there's no reason that you can't use this lens on the new 1DX, it won't cover the full frame. It's an EF lens, but only covers super35...so unfortunately you won't be shooting 4k...

Re: EF Lens mount problem Canon C300 Mark II, Zacuto rig, 17-120mm Lens

I think it's more than a bit disconcerting. Both that the mount failed that easily, and that the cost of the locking mount is so much. Based on your experience, They really should only sell this...

Re: EF Lens mount problem Canon C300 Mark II, Zacuto rig, 17-120mm Lens

I have noticed several occasions of the camera not recognizing a lens, both cinema primes and EF lenses. Its always been resolved by shutting the camera down, and re-connecting the lens...sometimes...

Re: One man crew "wonders" :-)

Hi Loren,

Thanks for the info. I think we had it set up on the very new 35mm EF 1.4L II when I noticed that all the speed controls were greyed out, so apparently it's "some" but not all. :-).

Re: One man crew "wonders" :-)

Hi Mark,

These were shot at 60 frames placed in a 24 frame timeline, so no centre crop was used. The background projections were 2-6 fps timelapses played back at 60p. As for lenses I was using...

One man crew "wonders" :-)

Here's a couple of spots I completed for our local Film Festival using the c300mark II. The high quality slow motion, combined with DPAF on this camera (not to mention the 4k time-lapse feature) made...

Re: Soft Camera Bag for C300 mk2 + Zacuto Rig?

Portabrace carries a number of bags, mostly of the "semi-rigid" variety, that are designed for larger camera rigs...one of them should suffice. Page 2 of this search produced a number that would...

Re: Canon Video Tutorials for C300 Mark II

Guys with helmets....perhaps switch to object tracking mode. Less automatic, but essentially it's face tracking with the ability to select something that the camera doesn't...

Re: Canon Video Tutorials for C300 Mark II

Curious about your hunting issues with face recognition. I haven't found that to be the case except in exceptional situations, or when shooting people that it simply doesn't seem to...

4k Timelapse on C300 Mk II

With all the discussion about crop mode, poor quality 120p, lack of sound and autofocus when in "Slow and Fast Recording" mode on the C300 Mark II, I was surprised one day when I discovered that...

These were shot with the Canon 17-55 2.8. Guess I should have been clear on the camera. C300 Mk II. Clog 2160p.

a little 4k

I haven't really shot much 4k other than a few B&W time lapses. Nice to see the detail this camera delivers, and nice to see that vimeo's 4k is pretty damn good too.
