Re: Do you use a steady cam for weddings?
Never. Lots of reasons, including the time it takes to get it up and running, ruining the highly unobtrusive nature of my style of shooting, and general overusage by lots of other videographers.

Re: Greetings from (yet another) newbie...
I had to chuckle at this one . . .
It's called getting experience on the camera; learning its ins and outs, its limitations and shortcomings; when to switch modes, exposure, frame rate, and...

Re: Greetings from (yet another) newbie...
Hi Ben!
Have you considered not using a wireless system at all, and instead picking up a couple Zoom H1N's? I used to use wireless, but recently switched to these small audio recorders, and it's...

Re: jvc hm100 with a canon 7D?
The only thing I can find is from a Panasonic brochure: "[the 160] provides slow/quick motion recording, high-quality LPCM audio, and HD SDI output." Otherwise it's the same as the 130, for almost...

Re: jvc hm100 with a canon 7D?
I'm sure this is the wrong thread to ask and is basically off topic, but what's the difference between the 160 and the 130?

Re: jvc hm100 with a canon 7D?
Right you are, Jeff. This camera looks like it's going to rock.
I have no brand loyalty either, but I've always tended to gravitate towards Panansonic, with a brief 2-year affair with Sony. I just...

Re: How important is your business name?
I like the personal vibe that is given using your name. I want to communicate "craftsman," not "company." Of course, I have no intention of sending out multiple crews or anything like that -- I work...

Re: Does Google Ad Words help?
In the three months I've been using it now, I've averaged more than 1 a month. I always ask how they learned about me.
Surprisingly, there have been a couple fantastic clients I've attracted on...

Re: Does Google Ad Words help?
Sorry for my terse response the first time :)
I'm spending maybe $100/mo, which I pre-pay. Google lets me know when the balance is running low, and I just log in and pay another $100. I feel like...

Re: Sharing Video question
You can definitely do this, and there are lots of ways. One of the easiest I've found is to use an app that allows you to embed code into your Facebook page. You put the video on your server, and...

Re: What questions to ask client when they call?
Who said it was lying? I'm genuinely interested in the couple's wedding and their story. Thus my reason for doing weddings in the first place. Even if I'm not enthralled by every single thing the...

Re: What does your reception light kit look like?
The Comer 1800's were worth their weight in gold at the reception I was at this past weekend! It's the first time I used them on a shoot, and they were a godsend. If I wouldn't have had these, I...

Re: How Much Video Is "Staged"
I never stage anything. My philosophy is that I'm there to capture what happens during the day, without becoming part of the event myself. My clients love that I'm basically invisible all day.
