Re: 4K BM “pocket” camera for weddings

Yes but I can start with just 1 lens, a 24 to 70 2.8 is a favourite and would provide me with better lowlight without resorting to 1.2 apertures on my 4/3s system.

Re: 4K BM “pocket” camera for weddings

BM worst decision is leaving it so long between announcement and delivery. You've lost the initial buzz and now with Nikon launching a fullframe mirrorless, Canon and Panasonic rumours of their own...

Re: 4K BM “pocket” camera for weddings

I have one on order since it was announced. Though I had the original on order but cancelled as I got fed up waiting. Still I'll hold out here as it does as Noa points out include the software that...

Re: Gradual changes to my wedding over the years

Given how higher shutter speeds tend to make the video look sharper, I can well see the advantages in using it for Canon DSLR, which is so soft and 720p like, it needs all the extra detail a higher...

Re: Gradual changes to my wedding over the years

You'd have to prise that variable nd filter from my cold dead hands. I use it all the time. I hate the look of fast shutter speed. Birds leaping across the screen. Water fountains look awful. ...

Re: Gopro Hero 6 Affordable, And Some Other Thoughts

There was a time I used GoPros a lot, but their Hero 4 was too unreliable. It would stop recording at random moments. I worked with a few other Videographers who used them and they've stopped using...

Re: Variable ND Filter Quality? Need help to decide.

Log is better than other profiles for many scenarios, especially vLog where the colour science is slightly better. It's more forgiving on high contrast scenes, so outdoors, very sunny shots, it...

Re: Church music license, UK

You've been lucky. I have had churches demanding to see proof of license on several occasions over the last 5 years. Maybe only a small percentage in all, but closer to a dozen or more Weddings. ...

Re: Gimbal setup options for weddings?

Whilst I love a shallow depth of field myself, is it more cinematic.... It's amazing watching movies and TV with excellent cinematography that have a deeper depth of field and yet still look...

Re: The advantage of 4K

I've exclusively filmed in 4K since November 2014, although initially I had 2nd and 3rd cameras in HD. By May 2016, nearly all my cameras were recording 4K and by August that year, all were and I've...

Re: Where have all the wedding videographers gone?

I am not for one moment thinking that cinematic edits are either just a passing fad or even less important than documentary. However as more and more Videographers turn to Cinematic edits as the ...

Re: Where have all the wedding videographers gone?

I don't think Chris we need to worry too much about cell phone Videographers. Most who enter this craft will be using mirrorless or DSLR to film. In short we love our toys too much to settle for a...

Re: Where have all the wedding videographers gone?

Actually I've just had an enquiry from a couple whose Videographer has gone into liquidation. Assuming it's true and he/she just didn't decide just to pull out. Obviously some Videographers don't...

Re: Why are I worrying?

Okay, I wrote the message on my phone at a Wedding and my phone has these really small keys, so sometimes I don't always key in the correct thing. However in this case, I may well have been...

Why are I worrying?

Just seen snippets of the Royal Wedding as I work filming one of my own. Slight shake to the footage of one of the readings, blown highlights on a shot down the aisle and some focus issues I thought...

Re: Where have all the wedding videographers gone?

Why should she take on the risk. Even if the videos on their website is as good as the other guy, doesn't guarantee the whole service will be equal to the one charging more, and most go by the maxim...

Re: Where have all the wedding videographers gone?

Noa, I am not sure you can totally attribute rising prices of your service to your assertiveness over the last 13 years. I too have become more assertive since first starting. It comes from...

Re: Where have all the wedding videographers gone?

No 2nd editor. Some of those Weddings are handled by a 2nd shooter - 8 of them. Some of those 90 are parties, few are Marryoke only, 1 is filming only - couple are editors themselves, some are...

Re: Where have all the wedding videographers gone?

Marryoke aren't what they were. They've tailed off quite dramatically. That's what happened 2 years back and not my bookings hard.
As for Drones. It's an expensive add on for my packages and not...

Re: Where have all the wedding videographers gone?

It's not quite as simple as that Noa. I've had budget Brides pay over £1100 for my combined service for a Wedding in a village hall, whilst a Bride getting married in a plush stately home having...

Re: 4K Televisions etc

I think once HDR starts to take off, 4K will become a more popular delivery standard. Ironically the suppliers are a little behind here. My parents were thrilled with their HDR TV, until it was...

Re: Gradual changes to my wedding over the years

There are more suppliers and maybe less demand than before. Initially when drone fever took hold there were no doubt fewer companies and high demand. All you need for inflated prices. Of course as...

Re: Where have all the wedding videographers gone?

More members isn't a good thing. Debate even amongst a small group can get out of hand as we can all testify to on this site. A site with over 10000 contributing is almost impossible to admin...

Re: Who adds shots of food in their weddingfilm?

I prefer the term nibbles. Though I agree in posh Wedding Industry, the Canapes is used, even though it's much the same thing, just sounds better. Even if it doesn't always taste better.

I think this website answers that question better than I can.

I agree an observer can be useful and I have someone I can use for certain...
