Bride/Groom Prep (Awkward?)

So how do handle the Bride/Groom prep? Do you talk with them before hand about certain shots? Do you hang out for a few minutes and fake "special parts"? Do you sit in a corner like a fly and try...

Here's a recent thread that might help.

Re: Has anyone here ever used Creative Commons music?

Most everything you watch will have some type of credit give for music (or where the license was obtained). I see no problem with using it. I imagine clients will not mind as well.

Re: New Canon XA25, XA20 and HF G30 camcorders

If you find auto WB acceptable for outdoors, then the button could work for you. Set the custom to the indoor shoot and press it when leaving the building to let auto take over outside. This only...

Re: Can we keep the audio from the ceremony/reception?

Thanks! I just thought it would be weird to receive the DVD of your wedding to find the wrong song playing while you walked down the aisle or during your first dance. It would get really pricey to...

Re: My Second Wedding Film

Well done. I do think the rays were a bit much, but I enjoyed the video. However, I think you will have to work pretty hard to improve with each shoot, as your one in May was very impressive.

Re: If I go FF, will f2.8 be fast enough?

I loved my 50 1.4 in photography, and still love it for video. I use that on my VG30 more than the stock lens. I do not always run it wide open though. I had a 24-70 2.8 on the DSLR during a very...

Camera settings for a new flyer

I am a new blackbird owner and I am trying to nail down the camera settings. Do you normally shoot pretty wide? How wide? I am solo, so focus is on me. What is the best approach? I know there is...

Re: New Canon XA25, XA20 and HF G30 camcorders

Alright. I do understand why you might need to change the settings when changing angles, but I normally would stop recording while I change positions. It could make lining things up in the NLE much...

Re: New Canon XA25, XA20 and HF G30 camcorders

Pardon my ignorance, as I always want to learn. Why is a feature to change white balance while recording so important? What are you recording that requires it. I have never had the desire to change...

What's so great about Canon DSLRs?

I am new to wedding videography, but have worked in image capture and editing for a while. I focused more on photography and leaned heavily toward Nikon as I loved the lenses. Being interested in the...

Can we keep the audio from the ceremony/reception?

I know enough about copyright to know I don't know enough about copyright. This forum has pointed out Song Freedom and The Music Bed to get license to sync music with the highlight video, as well as...

Re: please critique this wedding films

I agree with Noa both regarding the visuals and the audio. Just because StillMotion used bad audio doesn't mean the rest of us should. The time lapse was impressive...and who rode in the chopper for...

Re: Small camera for unattended locked-off wide shot.

I have been impressed with shots I've gotten from the little Somy RX100. It does decent with low light and is a great travel camera as well. Limited to 29 minutes though. It does good on auto, but...

Re: Just how good is the Go Pro 3?

Wow. Turns out the venue was even darker than I expected! I didn't even put up the Hero3 as my VG30 was struggling. I did try the GoPro on a stick idea mentioned earlier in the thread by Pete once...

Re: Just how good is the Go Pro 3?

Pete, I was going to tell you about the Black Ed. but Daniel beat me to it. I must say that I like your idea though. That monopod shot could look like a crane.

Re: Just how good is the Go Pro 3?

I received my Go Pro 3 (Black) which is supposedly better in low light than the other Go Pro 3s and previous models. I plan on trying it out as an extra cam in a wedding this weekend, but after a...

Re: Just how good is the Go Pro 3?

Sounds like most here are not using the newest version, but reviews say it is better in low light. I've watched some side-by-side comparison videos that have me convinced it can handle it better. ...

Re: What the Pros do...before...

Thanks again! Really good information. I see wisdom in having the cameras ready first at weddings. I am used to getting the audio up first, so that's a change. I have been shooting events for...

Re: Do I need a glidecam for a highlight wedding film?

I know very little about glidecam/steadicams. I have seen shots that they help create that are stunning. But my question is: where does the magic happen? I imagine the user has a lot to do with it,...

Re: Chapters in Mp4?

You can create the menus in Encore and export to a Flash file instead of a disk. It takes no Flash skills.

Flash isn't dead, it's just changing. It used to be that everyone wanted a Flash...

Re: Widescreen 16:9 or 4:3 with letterboxing for your DVDS?

Dance looks so much better 16:9 anyway, how can you resist? In 4:3 there is so much empty space top and bottom in stage performances.
