Re: 5D Mk. III vs Nikon D800 - resolution, ISO, rolling shutter and more

Never say 'nobody'...Life isn't clear cut and the world of photography and filming would be a boring place to be if everyone followed the same rules. :)

Chucking all your sequences together and...

Re: 5D Mk. III vs Nikon D800 - resolution, ISO, rolling shutter and more

The need to actually sharpen every single video clip in post is also an issue, Nigel.

Re: 5d mk3-Canon Raw

The Canon EOS Utility, Zoom Browser EX, and DPP are nice free additions with Canon cameras and very useful.

As Greg mentioned, LR4 now also supports the Mk3 Raw files in Lightroom 4. The Adobe...

Re: 5D Mk. III vs Nikon D800 - resolution, ISO, rolling shutter and more

There are quite a few issues ongoing with the Mk3's so-called softness in images and video without the need for the added use of sharpening techniques to produce full quality video clips and still...

Re: 5D Mk. III vs Nikon D800 - resolution, ISO, rolling shutter and more

The Walk With Me short film was OK with a nice 'feel' to it, especially the emotional close ups of the bonds between human and dog at the end.

David filmed the entire sequence with the lens wide...

Re: 5D Mk. III vs Nikon D800 - resolution, ISO, rolling shutter and more

Thank you for pointing us to the link, John.

The Nathan Elson video review is one of the best comparisons (from a stills image viewpoint) between the Mark 3 & D800 that I've so far seen. For many...

Re: 5D Mk. III vs Nikon D800 - resolution, ISO, rolling shutter and more

Yes, I agree, that the green shot at the very end was one of the best parts!

Re: 5D Mk. III vs Nikon D800 - resolution, ISO, rolling shutter and more

A nice comparision video and the light-hearted stuff helps maintain interest (although I agree with Rich that it could have been cut after 4:10).

The simulated high ISO levels are not really a...

Re: aperture - shutter

"...the 24-70mm F/2.8L rather soft as compared to the 24-105mm F/4L..."

I would have to completely disagree with that statement. At the same apertures, both have equal sharpness. The 24-70 L is...

Laurence, the Carl Zeiss Jena 35mm f2.4 Flektogon lens (an old MF lens for the Praktica SLR range of cameras) is not IS.

Re: So, is the 5D3 soft?

James is still answering recent questions with no hint of it being April fool, so I don't think he would continue if it were a joke.

Considering the amazing sharpness and detail that the D800 and...

We all like a good laugh Robert, and I certainly wasn't trying to dampen anyone's fun. But April fools jokes aside, I was thinking more of people wearing headphones. Listening to that high-pitched...

Re: Best for Video: 7D or 5d MK2??

Bokeh is often a figment of a clients imagination...or more likely the real affect of slightly more DOF in the 7D using lenses with similar FOV. :)

Re: Native ISO 5D3

Quite a difference at 1250 too.

I work a lot with 160, so this is proof that the old rules still apply.

Re: So, is the 5D3 soft?

It looks like a lot of people will be 'hacking' their 5D Mark III bodies to turn them into 'single OLPF' bodies! :)

I suppose the cleaning plate is also out of action if one of the OLPF's is...
