Re: Sony NEX-FS700 - It's real

In a new record for feature disappointment, high res high speed above 60fps and under 10 grand is out before the camera is even on sale because its not true 1080 at 480fps.

If someone were serious...

Re: 5D Mk. III vs Nikon D800 - resolution, ISO, rolling shutter and more

That first video was hilarious. With all the Nikon bias gags they should have thrown a few about pronouncing it wrong though.
More of this sort of thing.

re: Does APS-C have lower resolution?

I think you're mixing a few things up there.
There is probably some relationship between resolution and sensor size. But in the sense I think you're talking about there isn't a direct relationship....

Re: Sony NEX-FS700 - It's real

There is surely no such thing! Slow motion is the new shallow focus.

Re: Magic Lantern and bitrates

It seems it depends largely on the brand of the card. A lot of class tens don't seem to be able to maintain the maximum transfer speed as well as others. On the 60D with a 32g Transcend things...

Re: Sony NEX-FS700 - It's real

Really? With surely such a large contingent of crusty old chain smoking technical director types I would have thought they hand out hip flasks at the door.

Re: Memory Cards & Magic Lantern solve the problem of continues filming?

Yeah, Magic Lantern has a restart feature that will give you a bit of a gap.

Class 6 SD cards are the bare minumum though. The best (or one of at least) SDHC cards are Sandisk Extreme Class 10s ...

Re: music video, slow motion but still in sync?

Does your editor perhaps have seperate project settings for 23.976fps and 24fps and it's not all that obvious which one is which?

Re: 60D for still photo use primarily?

The 7D is a lot sturdier, has more autofocus points and shoots about twice as fast as the 60D.
It's got more dedicated photography features, in other words. It's a matter of how hard core you are I...

Re: Canon USA Announces EOS 5D Mark III

Interesting stuff. I'm not sure it makes your argument though. In this example the elephant includes the entire Canon DSLR range at least, and probably their other cameras as well. There's another...

Re: Canon USA Announces EOS 5D Mark III

I do wonder if making things more video oriented is quite difficult, for various obscure reasons.
Sure adding zebras, peaking and other Magic Lanternish stuff seems fairly straightforward. But...

Re: Canon USA Announces EOS 5D Mark III

I think this is a faulty supposition. They know only too well, I suspect, that you are likely to do just as well, perhaps better, in the long term by apportioning out progress than by jumping to the...

Re: Advice on 60D Workflow from Start to Finish

I don't think you're doing anything wrong, per se. Sometimes output settings can murk things up a touch. I seem to recall you can get different results, sometimes, exporting to compressed from your...

Re: Thoughts on my t3i audio setup

I'd never heard of that one. Look interesting. How accurate is it? Even if it's only fairly accurate it'd speed things up a lot.

Re: Thoughts on my t3i audio setup

It's a little high priced still for this, particularly with a mic on top, but the FR2 LE is a wonder machine. The things I've managed to pull out of there even after low signal and badly mic-ed...

Re: Can a T3i do this?

I don't see why not, for quite a bit of that. The 5D2 has been around longer and was picked up by a lot of pros so there's going to be a much greater volume of things shot with it.
I forget if the...

Re: T3i vs 7D Video difference

Not the 600D, but I have seen a few comparisons (which I can't find right now) of the 550D, 60D, 7D and 5DII side by side which do suggest some differences.
It's as if the noise is progressively...
