Re: 5DMK3 Question

No it is not a mix up. The 5D Mk3 now allows basic inexpensive shutter sytems, used originally to fire stills shots, to also start the video function.

For the past couple of years I have enabled...

Re: 5DMK3 Question

That is not quite true in reality, and will only be viable at the upper end of the ISO spectrum. At any medium-low ISO settings filmed in low light levels, the fast f1.2 - f/2.8 aperture lenses will...

Re: 5DMK3 Question

Lenses are the most important part of any equipment, so if you do not yet have the best lenses for your needs or type of photography/filming, then I would suggest that you would be better off with...

Re: Canon USA Announces EOS 5D Mark III

That's a great addition which we've all been craving for a long time, Chris. However, I tend to record sound seperately more often with the 5D (it provides the cleanest recordings), so am able to...

Re: Canon USA Announces EOS 5D Mark III

The dedicated (7D-type) Video Start/Stop button on the new Mark III is a nice feature, but it may cause some problems for me. I use my thumb to access the start/stop function on the Mark II when I am...

Re: 5DMK3 Question

I found it strange that the Canon 1DX does not have a headphone jack, yet the 'cheaper' Mark III does.

On the subject of over-heating, I've never had a 5D Mk2 body overheat during a variety of...

Re: Canon USA Announces EOS 5D Mark III

After waiting so long for the 5D Mark III, I guess I was hoping for even more improvements over the orginal 5D Mark II.

The problem with moire, especially when filming moving ripples on water, has...

Thanks for the info, Charles. Very interesting.

I look forward to viewing the actual film when I get a chance.

Re: Canon USA Introduces EOS-1D X Digital SLR Camera

"...continuous clip up to 29 minutes and 59 seconds long, regardless of the file size."

That's a great plus for video shooting. I hope that they also include this in the Canon 5D Mark III. The...

Re: Settings for Zoom H4 with 2 X Radio mics connected to XLR ports

The clip mic + H4 in pocket works well (I often use the Sony DC-78 + Sony 77b for this) for one person, but it would need two H4's for two people in different zones.

Re: Settings for Zoom H4 with 2 X Radio mics connected to XLR ports

Sometimes, the obvious is forgotten and all it takes is a very small yet vital change to make everything perfect.

I've just gone back and widened the frequency range differences of one of the...

Re: Settings for Zoom H4 with 2 X Radio mics connected to XLR ports

Cheers for the help Seth. That might be part of the problem. I'll try a much wider MHz frequency between both sets of units and see if it works.

Settings for Zoom H4 with 2 X Radio mics connected to XLR ports

Re: Nikon D4 with new video features

Ozzie, I need both the stills and video in my professional work, so a DSLR is very important, such as the D4 or 5D etc., but if you only need video, then I would suggest that you look seriously at...

Re: Nikon D4 with new video features

Wonderful footage in the "WHY" video clip. The extra crop mode with full HD video will also come in handy for extra reach combined with super telephoto lenses for nature/sport/wildlife.

Re: what can a guy do to get consistent focus??

I've never had a problem with the 6 X lens in AF or MF with stock viewfinders and find it far the sharpest and easiest to focus of the all AF and MF XL series lenses.

Were you using MF throughout...

Re: Matching DSLR & XLH1 - anyone doing this?

The 5D tends to have much higher contrast, but they blend OK with most subjects; although head-shots where you need to blend skin tones can be tough.

The C300 looks to be a better match for the...

Re: Canon 70-200 f2.8 for Video?

I have not found IS to be worthwhile for most of my video work with a variety of Canon L lenses, especially any lenses beyond 135mm. With all telephoto lenses of 200mm or 300mm, I tend to always have...

Re: iPhone 4S / Canon 5d MKII Side by Side Comparison
