Re: HELP THE NEWBIES THREAD.....please.

Harper, I would probably suggest the Panny 14mm f/2.5 over the Oly 12mm f/2. There's only minor difference in focal length and light gathering ability, but a huge difference in price.

You 3...

Re: EX Tele and external monitor doesn't work

HDMI might work, but it won't send signal to a monitor.

Re: Ex Tele Conv with Photos

You have to remember that full raster HD video is only a 2 megapixel image. Professional photography is much more resolute. The reason being that it's a single frame, vs. a series of moving frames,...

Re: EX Tele and external monitor doesn't work

I was quite upset that they didn't fix the etc and 720p monitor issue in the firmware update. Very lame.

Re: Ex Tele Conv with Photos

ETC is useless for photo. The GH2 takes 16 megapixel stills. ETC crops that to 2 megapixels, greatly reducing resolution.

Re: New Firmware Available!

Jeff, I saw you say you have an XHA1. That and the GH2 are my cameras, as well. I get a fair amount of corporate work using my XHA1. A lot of corporate shoots require tape based cameras, where...

Re: New Firmware Available!

Other Jeff, I think you're a little confused. 60p is the frame rate. 720p is the resolution. p stands for progressive. The GH2 has a 1080i60i option, too, but generally you want to stick to...

Re: New Firmware Available!

That was one of the listed updates. I haven't shot with it since I updated. I had two important shoots on Wednesday, and didn't want to update my firmware on the chance that it ran into problems.

Re: Help with editing . . . Pinnacle 15 is Driving me CRAZY!!!!

Before I took video more seriously I use to edit with Pinnacle (versions 8 & 10, I think), and it would crash constantly. It would screw up my titles, and a host of other things. I can't imagine...

New Firmware Available!

Now you can shoot 30p @ 24mbps. Jeff Harper, that should be good news to you, as I know you were conflicted between 60p and 24p. Should be a happy medium.

Re: 25mm F/1.4 - anyone use it yet?

I had originally taken pictures of people with my Voigtlander 25mm (effective 50mm). Once I started using my Canon 50mm f/1.4 (effective 100mm) I noticed a huge difference. Peoples' faces were just...

Re: 25mm F/1.4 - anyone use it yet?

Jeff, I don't know where you got that 50mm is good for portraits. Most portrait photographers go no lower than an 85mm. The longer focal length is more flattering to the face because it doesn't...
