Boston Vip Film Screening!
WICKID PISSA FILMS is having a special screening of their new docu-drama THE LAST DAYS OF CENTRAL and you are invited.
Please email me and I will send you the official evite. Here are the details of the event. VENUE: Marquee (Formerly Grand Canal) WHERE: 57 Canal St., Boston, MA DATE: Thursday, January 13, 9:00 p.m. PHONE: 617-523-1112 What would you do if your only best friend vanished in an instant? THE LAST DAYS OF CENTRAL is an endearing portrait of two real-life best friends whose rebellious youth culture crisscrossed 21 years ago and - together - they instinctively documented their nonstop parade of comedy routines, hipster-cool pranks, experimental films, and one ill-fated attempt at getting noticed by Hollywood bigwigs. This is the first film ever to meld fictional narration with compelling true-life sequences. Last year, Wickid Pissa's short film CELL PHONES AND ACTION FIGURES was accepted to ifilm.com and The New England Film Festival and they also completed their first feature film GERM OF A NEW INSANITY. Um...
but...i didnt laugh...you can do better then that...cmon now...personally, i would classify this thread as "spam"..............ok then...have a nice day...
I hope to see more "well done" things in the future... |
Jett Evans...
You're a jerk. I'd classify you as a troll. |
Man are you insane!? ... in a Galaxy far, far away... hahaha
Great song though, thanks for letting it play on. So was number 2 just a little joke? I love obscure shorts like that. The first one was better but that was a really cool version of the Carol in the second one. Thanks! |
OK! SO! first off ill just tell you that i did vote for you, but not after seeing about 10 of the others, because its only fair.
Id have to say, that yours was the best one that i have sene so far. great job on it, i hope you win. Some of the other submissions were very lame, and im sooooooo glad that you didnt put the fan moving...its now as overdone as chapelles/lil johns "yeah"... The only really dire thing that i saw that shuold be changed, is that i think there should be a shot of what he wrote on the one he threw away, somethign signifing thats its over or somethign ya know? All in all great job, yours is MUCH better then some of them i saw XD |
I am a MORON!
Man, am I an idiot! I had never even read anything about the contest, I just watched yours and voted, so I went back to watch some others and realized a few things.
1. The guys in your video are not the original song artists! I didn't know that, but it makes your video even cooler because of the work involved. 2. I watched a bunch of the other videos and have a new definition of the word "SUCK"! Man there are some crappy submissions! (if it weren't for the commercials, I would have watched them all) 3. I HATE iPod commercials! (I also hate iFilm for making me watch so many commercials) If I see that stupid HP+iPod one more time I'll scream! 4. You video really was good. Very good. You should be proud of your work. I like it just the way it is. I like leaving my imagination to wonder what the note said. I know it (the message on the note) wasn't good, that's enough for me. I was able to vote again, so I did, and I would encourage EVERYONE to run over and vote for you as well because if YOU don't win, it will be a dark day for everyone! |
whoo hoo
yay! man, thanks a ton, you saw the first letter was "G" and later u see "ye" so i thot people would assume "goodbye" LOL but im actually glad that this accident left some people to ponder about it. although another appraoch was to show it more clearly,
thansk for the input and encouragement, i appreciate it alot! -arthur |

Its not yellowcard, but its not bad at all...oh...wait a minute..." Any ways, i saw more, and i just HAD to same good job on raising the bar there. |
Rhett,
just a note... did you know you could just slide the play bar to the right and skip the annoying commercial? (i couldnt stand watching it more than once so i grabbed it and slid it and viola!) hope that relieves some of the stress!!! ;} anyway, Arthur.... good job on the video...good luck! Even though you were obviously just screwing around with with a camera with some friends it still managed to turn out alright.
What did you use to film/edit it? |
Anybody want to critique my film
I've shot a 50 minute film recently. I was wondering if anybody would be willing to watch & critique it. I would probably have to send it through AOL instant messanger, as it's a quicktime file.
The reason I ask is because I'm going to work on a new one soon and I need help on improvements. In return, I'll watch & critique your film or scripts. If anyone wants to, please email! thanks, Andres |
You could send it through yousendit.com, which allows 1GB. The file expires after 7 days or 25 downloads, whichever comes first.

Short Movie "What am I?"
I've posted this elsewhere before a long time ago, but since this is my first post here I figure I will post this project. Let me know what you think. It is the only video I have on that site right now, I will be updating it with more soon.
http://www.petemurph.com/movies.htm Thanks! Peter |
I've moved your thread to a better forum...
|
I'd say this was well done. Original shots, good editing. Nice!

"Please click on the following link to retrieve your file. The link will expire in 7 days and will be available for a limited number of downloads." 38MB Quicktime download (Quicktime because you can scrub through it and go frame by frame). |
I only watched Chaeostrophe since my time is limited, but that
didn't do anything for me personally, sorry. The visuals weren't interesting enough. |
First: I really liked the wooden things on your webpage, that
looks great! Second: this is a streaming QuickTime and for some reason it quit after the first minute of streaming. So I watched that part and I must confess I wasn't too intrigued to try it again....... Do you have a regular downloadable version as well? |
:)
No worries
of all projects, Chaeostrophe needs to be seen in pitch black on a big screen, with a big bass bin, prefferably with the help of some psychedelic drugs It was my first foray into 3D animation with 3DS Max, still a work in progress, I hope to put a finished version online at the end of this month |
I just put up a link on the movies page so you can right click and download it, I would really appreciate your opinion.
Thanks, Peter |
I really liked this video. Looked well planned out.
The end was very very good with the guy coming in. The only thing that came to mind as I was looking for problems was maybe not just making the 'other' scenes b&w, but also doing some contrasting or other filters to give it that looking back or whatever you call it, feel. Very well done video though. |
I am a finalist!!!!! On a video contest

"heads or tails PREMIERE shot on Panasonic AGDVX100
I've used this board to get advice and many of you asked for me to announce when we were done with the film and I'm happy to say that after over 18 months of production, we are finally premiering our film "heads or tails" on February 19th 2005 at the Weinberg Center in Frederick Maryland. 8pm
heads or tails feature film premiere Weinberg Center February 19th 2005 8pm. www.foolmartyr.com www.weinbergcenter.org Weinberg Center is an historic theater that seats over 1000 people. Cast and Crew will be present and it will be the first time any of them have even seen the film. "heads or tails" was shot on Panasonic AG-DVX 100 cameras and edited on Final Cut Pro. I appreciate all the feedback on the teasers/trailers and pics from everyone on this board. If any of you are able to make it out, be sure to introduce yourself! Thanks again for all the input! |
Congratulations! I would love to see it, but I'm not coming from Belgium though for seeing it :-p
But I wish you all the best :-) I really loved your trailers and I show it many times to people here if they visit. |
Bandwith
Greetings Glenn,
I went to check out your video and it appears to not exist anymore, or has exceeded it's bandwith. Let us know when you re-post and I'll check it out. |
Hey Jake,
Thanks for the heads up. I put it back up on yousend.it.com: http://s10.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0...C0NPYFI5FWUJ9B The link will unfortunately go down in 25 downloads or 7 days, whichever comes first. I am looking into getting some web space via dreamhost.com ($10USD for a year, use promo code 777 and prepaid 1-year; not sure if the domain name is easily transferrable). The following link may also work: http://s10.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3...73UYAN40L6NMFI |
Ok I uploaded the file to my new website...
http://www.glennchan.info/exterior_jan7.mov By the way, if anyone is interested in deals on web hosting, you can check out hot deals sites like fatwallet.com (US) redflagdeals.com (Canadian deals site) I got 1 years web hosting for just slightly under $10USD (you have to pay after that though... not sure what happens with your domain). |
Shot on an XL-2, edited on FCP HD.

Not sure if I have any plans that friday, but if not, do I buy a ticket at the door?
It's not too far from where I work... |
Glad you can make it! Make sure to introduce yourself. We will have tickets at the door (providing we don't sell out before). Tickets are also available by calling the box office of the Weinberg Center (301)228-2828.

Hi.
I was wondering if anyone could recomend (amateur)filmfestivals , which will soon call for entries?? I have 2 films that I would like to send, but I need the right festival... The first is a dark shortfilm and the other a short documentary... Hope you guys will help! Thanks |
Film Festivals
2 suggestions:
First, check out www.withoutabox.com website. This website list hundreds of film festivals, their entry dates, a way to apply, tests to see if your film qualifies and guidelines for applying. Second, check out Chris Gore's book: The Ultimate Film Festival Survival Guide,3rd Edition. It's pretty much the definitve word on film festivals. Mickey Stroud |
Man, I missed it. I should visit this forum more often.

Hondance Film and Arts Festival
Hi All,
Just wanted to let anyone near the Baltimore/DC Metro area know about a new film festival that will be taking place this weekend. The festival is called Hondance (for those of you who are not Baltimoreans, a "Hon" is a typical working-class Baltimore woman, often seen sporting a beehive and calling everyone "Hon", as in short for "Honey"). Hondance will be featuring a ton of shot-on-DV shorts and features, as well as a bunch of great live music, poetry readings, short plays, and even belly dancing! For more details, check out the website at http://www.hondance.com . If you're thinking of attending, I'd definitely recommend reserving tickets. The theater has very limited seating, and we can probably only sell about 120 tickets each day. Hope to see some of you there! Thanks, Ryan Graham 37.5 Productions |
I made it and was glad I did. Really great guys and a good turn out of guests.
"The Last Days of Central" was quite a nice film. I didn't know what to expect at first but the story built itself nicely and really gave you a vested interest in the relationship of J&P. Well, I won't spoil it for you but I was glad I went. I'd look for more good work from these guys in the future. You might try to make it to the "Short and Sweet" The Best of the Short Film Series 2004 on Tuesday, Feb 15, 2005. I think it's going to be just a little west of Boston. I cant remember exactly where but they should have more information here. http://www.attentiondeficitfilms.org/ |
what is the title of the sigur ros song playing in the background?
|
Thank you very much...I will do that...:)

Old video of mine from last year
This was my first attempt at video work of any kind and was edited as an afterthought. I pretty much took a handycam along for a laugh and didn't really put any thought into it and then decided to cut it later, hence the large amount of shakey shots.
My skills have improved somewhat with practice but I thought I'd post this anyway for peoples opinions. http://s4.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2P...K24SQB12GHQTF5 |
