Gare de Liège-Guillemins

2 years ago I went together with a photog and a wedding couple to Luik in Belgium (or Liege in Fench) to do the photo shoot in the railway station, because I love architecture I was amazed at how beautiful that station was, today finally I managed to free up a few hours to shoot at that location.

There were more stricter safety measures because of a higher domestic terrorism alert level (due to the terrorist attack in Paris some time ago) and several policemen with dogs were patrolling the station, they did see me while I was shooting video but did not bother me, I guess that's the advantage of shooting with small gear.

I had a small gorrilapod with me so I had a minitripod and I could wrap it's legs around handrails so I could mount the camera waste height. I had my gh4 and a 14-140mm lens with me and my feiyu g4 and gopro 4 Black, I shot it all in 4K but edited in a 1080p project, a few shots on the gopro where 2.7k. Here the wide angle view from the gopro was really necessary to capture the structure in one view.

I hardly did shoot at the lowest level where the shops where, I felt a bit uncomfortable when I pointing the camera to people because they could see me doing so and I didn't want to cause any reactions.

Every moving or steadicam like shot is done with the feiyu g4 and gopro, every clip from the gopro has been stabilized in after effects with the warp stabilizer at it's default settings. I had to trash about half my gopro shots because they were too wobbly and jittery and the AE stabilizer made a mess of it.

Incase you want to have more info about this structure and the station below some info I copied from the sncb europe railwaystation website:

"Liège-Guillemins is one of the busiest stations in the French-speaking part of Belgium and a major high-speed rail hub. Thalys, ICE and InterCity trains make it easy to travel to Germany, France, the Netherlands and Luxembourg from there.
This ultra-modern station was designed by the famous Catalan architect Santiago Calatrava. With its steel and glass vaulted roof, the station is considered an architectural tour de force. In the covered central concourse you'll find shops, restaurants, a tourist information office and a ticket office for urban/regional transport."

My next stop will be the railwaystation in Antwerp, also a amazing architectural achievement.

Beautiful angles, care to share some of your techniques?

There is not that much to say beside what was already mentioned in what I did write above, just a small gorillapod was used for all stationary shots and the feiyu for moving shots. What exactly do you want to know?

Thx :) The fact that I was not allowed to use a tripod did limit the position of my camera but such a gorillapod forces you to be more creative in where you can attach it to or where it can be placed. I"m doing a series of these short impressions now, visited on of our second amazing train stations in our small country which is located in Antwerp which I posted here: http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/show-you...gopro-gh4.html

Next time I plan on visiting the Basilica in Koekelberg, another impressive architectural achievement: http://www.basilicakoekelberg.be/doc...-exterieur.jpg

Pretty soon I will be receiving a nebula 4000 so I can start using my gh4 on it, I realy love using my Feiyu g4 and gopro 4 for those stealth like recordings but I don't like that I can't lock the exposure on my gopro and on occasion the gopro has locked up on me where I had to remove and reinsert the battery to get it going again. It makes shooting images a bit more of a challenge.
