Estes Park Film Festival Official Selections

The 2nd Annual Estes Park Film Festival Announces Official Selections

Showcasing over 50 independent films from around the world, the 2nd Annual Estes Park Film Festival will take place September 14-16 at the Historic Park Theatre in downtown Estes Park, Colorado. Built in 1913, the Park Theatre is one of the oldest movie theatres still operating in America. In addition to the Park Theatre, suspense and horror films will screen at the Historic Stanley Hotel, which is famous for its inspirational role in Stephen King's book & film, "The Shining". Student films will also screen at the Lake Shore Lodge as part of our Student Filmmaker Showcase. Included in this year’s line-up is the hilarious comedy “Life with Fiona” about Scott Parker who's unlucky in love - that is, until he meets the woman of his dreams. Joe D’Augustine’s “One Night with You” is about down-on-his-luck Jake Tarlow (Mark Boone Junior) who has to get reclusive writer Hunter Burnell (Michael Parks) to an important meeting in what will probably be the last great time of his life. Other feature films include the quirky documentary “Plagues & Pleasures on the Salton Sea” about California’s newest ecological time bomb, and at the Stanley Hotel “The 4th Dimension” explores the dark and lonely world between dreams and reality.

Short Films include the poignant story “Trail End” about Hank (Barry Corbin) and his last ride across Kansas with the help of his best friend Chip -- an old Appaloosa. A lonely, high functioning mentally challenged man falls in love with a 900 sex-line operator, and through that call, both find redemption in the funny and inspiring “My Name is Wallace”. At the Student Filmmaker Showcase an old man comes back home and tries to reconcile himself with his family who are all immortal and never age in “The Old Son”. Other short films include Sheila Schroeder’s newest documentary “Crunch!”, the apocalyptic “Café at the Crossroads”, and the mysterious “Twilight of Youth”.

Many of the filmmakers will be on hand to introduce their films and will take part in a Q&A on the creative process of getting their films from script to screen. There will also be plenty of parties where you can mingle with the filmmakers and other film enthusiasts. Ticket information and the complete schedule of film screenings, workshops, parties, and panel discussions are available on the festival web site: www.estesparkfilm.com.

Two of my friends have films in this festival. Wish I could be there. Wish I could have submitted something again, but I was too busy shooting corporate stuff and a triathlon. Next year, next year. I should have a little something to submit. A few little somethings!

Sean runs a great festival. Y'all oughta submit stuff, all you DVCers and UWOLers. Estes Park is a great place to visit. Elk everywhere. Good coffee. Great films.

Love the final result. Would you care to divulge a little bit of your process? Without, of course, revealing trade secrets.

Really, quite beautiful.

Promotional Video for Social Service Organization

Here's the You Tube link for a promotional video for the Highland County Community Action Agency's Senior Nutrition Program that I did earlier this year. It's about 7 minutes. Please let me know what you think and I am definitely open to constructive criticism... That's why I posted it. I am looking for feedback that will make me better from the people on this forum. But please, don't be rude :)

High Energy Fight Scenes (GS500)

Here's our latest Webisode, including two fight scenes - one with a maniacal Koala-bot!

http://colonelcrush.com/movie/index/00220501

Personally, I think the music is the real key to generating adrenaline, but I would say that. I'm the composer. ;)

Matt Buys July 31st, 2007 06:01 PM

Very nice.

Michael Rapadas July 31st, 2007 08:52 PM

pretty neat! maybe one day i could use some stock effects/composites like that! keep it up

C.M. de la Vega August 1st, 2007 07:02 AM

that koala was freaky man!

you did a good job with the score... by the way, what software do you use to make the music?

I've watched a couple episodes and a mini-movie (snakes on a car - loved it) and it looks like you guys are having lots of fun doing all this, which is what filmmaking is all about. Just wanna ask, how long does it take you guys to write, shoot and edit a webisode?
