Firewire/Windows 7 hassles

Hi, I just bought a new PC with windows 7. It has an express card slot so I got a firewire adapter since firewire input seems to be a thing of the past with laptops now?

So I can see my 700 in the devices but I can't get it to work.....It says I'm needing a driver but the adapter is meant to be plug and play and I'm having no luck. I know that there were issues with windows7 'cause it's all over google, but they're supposed to be sorted...

Just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and can recommend a fix?

Thanks,
Dave

I just had this same problem with a new Windows 7 computer. You need to change the drive to "Legacy" ...OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller (Legacy). Here is a that will help: link: Fixing Firewire Problems in Windows 7 - David Knarr

Re: Firewire/Windows 7 hassles

Thanks Herm, but it turned out that the setting was already 'legacy' and the other fix suggested by David Knarr didn't work for me either....

I know the express card adapter works because I tried it on my wifes XP laptop. No problem.

Arrrrrrgh! Any other ideas?

Cheers
Dave

Try Google-ing JMicron 1394 Filter Driver. Like the legal drinking age constraint in outback Australia it's just a suggestion. Fixed my V1P connectivity Windows 7 problem when all esle failed and I was at the Arrrrrrgh stage!

You need to install the Sony's new XDCAM Browser v1.2 software. It includes the necessary drivers for all Sony XDCAM HD/EX cameras and various other utility to view, browser and ingest XDCAM material including a XDCAM Transfer utility for MACs.

Here is the link to download XDCAM Browser v1.2

Re: Firewire/Windows 7 hassles

Thanks for all your suggestions but unfortunately no luck!
Next stop will be at our local XD gurus office this week.

Hopefully will get the fix and I'll post it when I know.

Seems to point towards the 64bit OS at this stage.

Cheers

Re: Firewire/Windows 7 hassles

So, after upgrading all of my XD applications (which were supposed to contain drivers for Win 7 Pro 64 bit),
I found this -

2.30-2.31 FAM230231 FAM Drivers, Mac/Win,V 2.3X

It worked, so it seems the trick could be to install the FAM driver as a stand alone download?

Cheers
