Yes, that's weird. But did you also test it with a light? Could be that it's a capacitor unloading and then it would take longer with a device that consumes less power... Or is it really permanent? Then it looks like a fault to me...

Finally got this problem sorted after a $1200 repair.
It was he DC Converter Board that had blown inside the camera. Sony said that one of the D-Tap power inputs was probably overloaded by a faulty piece of equipment plugged into it. They said that they get a few PDW700's coming in with the same problem. Pic attached. Tim. |
