Hc1

i've had my HC1 a little over a year and it's just recently developed some problems with the zoom lever. sometimes it just doesn't work or the speed is very slow and then will suddenly work again. it's very annoying and makes smooth zooming almost impossible.

anyone experienced similar problems. any ideas of what i can do short of sending it in and getting it fixed?

There are (at least) three ways to zoom with this camera - the buttons on the top right, the buttons on the flip-out LCD, and the multi-purpose "ring" (depends on what mode you are in). So the first question is: are you sure it's a problem with the "zoom lever" (I presume this is the zoom control located top right of the camera?) and not the zoom function in general?

The only thing I can suggest is that if it is just the button and not the zoom itself, maybe you can get by using either of the other two methods?

This is very interesting, I've had this problem too and I've never heard of anyone else bring it up. For me, if I bring the zoom lever almost all the way to the right, but not completely, it usually zooms without any problems. Other than that, I use the zoom on the LCD.

Let me know how it works out for you, or if you send it in.
