can't drag clips to timeline in cs3

i am using a sony hd7. shooting in wide angle hd mode.

i can capture the clip no problem, and it will open and play in the project window. but it won't let me drag it to the timeline....so I can't edit it!!!

Open the clip in the "source" window and drag it to the time line. The project window is not for that purpose.

There are also buttons in the source window for placing the video in the timeline. If you are still having this problem, you could try that?

Not sure what editing you are trying to do but length and all can be edited from the source monitor, before moving the footage to the timeline.

If you drag your footage into the program monitor it will automatically be added to your timeline.

Drag your footage into the source monitor, edit the length and then drag and drop it into the timeline. Edit the length by setting in and out points.

Mike....the problem is that it won't let me drag it!!!!

Soooo frustrating. Have edited many other clips....this is the first time for this to happen? Maybe cause it's hd....first time editing hd.

Any thoughts?

I have tried that as well. It only opens in the source window....won't drag to project window...won't drag to timeline...and the insert buttons don't work either?????

Herb,

I think you are not using the "Source" window. Look at the actual name of the window you have the clip in. You first said "program" and that will not work.

Do a screen print for us and post that.
