HDVSplit will not detect my HC7

I don't know if it possibly could be my firewire cable, but when I plug in my 4 pin to 4 pin firewire cable, I see a "HDVin iLINK" on my camcorder, but for some reason my Vista laptop will not detect it. It's funny too because it worked literally yesterday and then last night it just stopped working. Any ideas guys? My Vista laptop would detect it fine before and never had issues. Then out of the blue, it won't detect. I'm thinking it's a bad cable.

Nevermind guys. It was indeed a bad cable. Got a new one at Worst Buy (yes I know but I needed something), but luckily I got an open box firewire cable for for $12.99 instead of $34!
