HVR-A1P Firewire failure
Is anyone able to repair this component economically or is it a write-off. It is definitely a camera fault and curiously, it tends to switch itself off & on a few times when you first turn it on and then it settles down OK.
All other recording/playback functions work. I would like to keep this handy little camera just for up-loading HDV tapes at least. I'm in PAL land. Any suggestions. RonC. |

Re: HVR-A1P Firewire failure
I actually repaired the port on my FX1 after buying a part for about $40 US on line. You might be able to find the part. What was important was that I also found a video on line that showed how easy it was to replace the component. The other problem sounds like the problem on my Sony VX2000, simply a bad power switch. For some reason Sony has been notorious for poor quality of both of those elements of their cameras.
You can get a repair guide here for $ 13.00 us. http://www.tradebit.com/filedetail.p...l-repair-guide
