Workflow V1E with DR-60

As the DR-60 is finally on the way, I have some questions:

1. Do’s it matter if it is used on Cameras, dedicated to US or European-
Market?

2. What happens when the disk, after 3 1/2 hours, is full?
Do you empty the disk after any shooting session?
Or keep going, until it is nearly full?

3. Can I just dump the data to a laptop, with external USB-2-hard disk?
Dos it need special software?

4. Are pictures always stored on tape AND on HDD?
I mean is a tape needed, to store on the disk as well, or can it be used
without tape in the Camera?

5. If yes, what would be the preferred way?
Always on both mediums, for security reasons?

thanks for you opinions

Nope

I thought the capacity was about 4.5 hours ... Yes, a reasonable scenario would be to transfer the files to a computer or another drive.

I believe it uses firewire, and the laptop will automatically see it as just another drive. Drag and drop the files over.

You don't need a tape, with the V1/DR60 combo, which makes it somewhat special. As others have mentioned, there's an annoying warning flash that tells you there's no tape in the cam though.

Using both has been described by Sony as a security for important shoots, plus it enables you to keep the tape on the shelf for archival purposes
