Downconvert to DV

I have searched this Z1 catagory, but did not find anything.

When I record in HDV and download from camera to computer in DV widescreen, I get a wide screen picture that fall inside the safe zone. In other words the clip is smaller than the NLE screen. I set up using DV widescreen.

Am I missing the obvious????
