Great tip about HVR-Z1 & HVR-M10J combination
Mr. Masuda from Pro Video Station came today to watch my FX1 clips today. He must have sold over 100 units of FX1 already, but for him to watch something shot in the beautiful weather in Nagano, he said it was stunning.
Anyway, he mentioned about HVR-M10J that it can be connected to HVR-Z1 on site, battery operated, and the combination will allow two hour continuous shooting. I remember Manfrotto makes a rack which can be mounted on tripod, so you might be able to setup on one tripod nicely using that kind of attachment. |

How about using a small laptop PC with CapDVHS utility. It allows capturing FX1's m2t files live just fine. Given that laptops are battery-operated, and cost less than the deck mentioned, and do have an advantage of also being a ... umm... full-fledge computer... seems like laptops are the winners :)

But if you're hooking up a new full HDV post process, you don't want to always hook the camera up for capturing...(wear and tear on the camera's heads...) This way we can work the same as we have been with DV and other assorted media...
Of course for recording in the field...well, that's another matter entirely... |

The word "site", I meant rather to be "field", so these combinatio would be less problematic, don't you think? If you own the deck, you can use the deck to capture and master, then when you have to shoot longer than one hour continuously, then take the deck, too. I hear you can put shoulder strap, too. Kata should make a softcase for this deck.
