More examples of how this mentality comes through...

I constantly hear others in our business saying:

1. "Don't buy HDV, there's no way of delivering your project."

2. "Don't buy the current HDV camera, another camera will be out soon and it's much better."

3. "Clients aren't willing to pay for HD"

4. "Clients don't know what HD is."

And so on.....

My replies to each of the above are:

1. WMV-HD, D-VHS, iOdata player, direct from PC/Mac

2. In the meantime while these folks are waiting for the next big thing, we are earning money from the current HDV camera and will be able to afford the new camera when it comes out, which is usually further down the line than most people think.

3. Many clients are, and they have proven that. If you think that way you either need to adjust your selling technique or expand into other markets!

4. This is changing by the week. Plasma sales are skyrocketing. In virtually any market there will be plenty of people who know what HD is and want it for thier next project.

Let's leave them to their negative whining!

Lets not forget one bonus that a HD format brings to any camera.

Its raises the quality bar for the DSP and lens, SNR, etc etc..

In other words, when manufacturing HD equipment even the lowest end HD (eg HDV in our case) it has to have better lens, better DSP, better noise etc, since imperfections that may not have shown up on SD formats will bound to show up on a HD format, and if you want to sell your product you will have to over come them.
