Problems rewinding
I was out using my faithful old Z1 yesterday as a B camera. On location I didn't have time to rewind the tapes when they reached the end as I usually do.
When I returned to the office I put each tape back in the camera to rewind ready for capture but the camera refused to rewind them giving an error along the lines of C31:C32 (from memory). I popped the tapes into my PDX-10 and they rewound without fuss. Placed each tape back in the Z1 and all the footage was captured and the tapes rewound happily this time. So what gives? I was shooting HDV onto Sony DVCAM stock (60 minute tapes). The Z1 doesn't have huge hours on it (a friend of mine has a Z1 with well over twice the hours). Is it just a tape tension problem and I should have rewound there and then? Hard to do on a continuous shoot. Without the PDX10 happily rewinding the tapes I would have been stuck. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
