				Z1 and Wide Angle Lens

Hi I am about to buy a Z1 and a wide angle lens. I have been quoted for 2 Sony VCL-HG0872 (£289) and the Century HD VS-07CV-HDS (£589) both ex VAT from MitCorp UK. What I wnated to know was this.. The first one is not a HD one and the second one is (i assume) would anyone notice much difference in quality? I know this sounds like a daft question but does the extra quality warrant £300?? I welcome ur thoughts.. cheers mat |

Why not just buy the Z1 first and see if it is already wide enough for you! Unless running into very tight spots you should be Ok. Sorry that doesn't answer your question, but you might save even more money. :)

I haven't used the Sony VCL-HG0872 on my Z1, but they claimed it was developed specifically for that camera - it was introduced sometime following the FX1. Here's some info from B&H's website: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...ughType=search The search function on this site will lead you to discussions on this topic: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthrea...ight=wide+lens http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthrea...ight=wide+lens http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthrea...ight=wide+lens http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthrea...ight=wide+lens http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthrea...ight=wide+lens http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthrea...ight=wide+lens |

Another Wide Angle for FX1 Z1

I too am looking for a Wide for my soon to get here Z1 and found this lens that I'm thinking of instead of the century. http://www.16x9inc.com/cgibin/eDatCa...talogno=HDV7X1 I think it's about $50 cheaper (available from EVSonline and probably B&H if you call either of them) and has a thread on the front as well as back. It's thinner than the century and weighs less, but I'm torn - I like century's bayonet mount. I'll probably leave the lens on all the time, I'm a wide freak - and... I'm looking for sunshades too. The only one I've found that might fit the wide lens is from cavision: http://www.cavision.com/LensHood/LH100w.htm Any suggestions or thoughts welcome. Regards, John |

I'm going to get the Century, it is a zoom through too. I've had Century lenses before, never been disappointed, plus I really like the bayonet. I understand they offer a sunshade/filter holder too. I'll report back when I get them, might be a couple weeks.

Better still, why not buy the micro35? At $500 you get to use 35mm lenses on your FX1/ZU1. Hell, you can even stick a 14mm Nikon on your Sony and get super wide!
