NAB and the Z1u....

My hope is that after NAB, Sony will release something that will drop the price of the Z1u. I might be dreaming, but I'm holding out a month before I buy.

If anyone goes to NAB, could you get some drum signals on anything from NAB affecting the price of the Z1u or if anything is better or of equal value?

Thanks.

Like I said, I might be dreaming about the price drop.

If Sony does announce something new at or shortly after NAB, it will probably be at least a few months until the new camera actually gets released.

If anything -- I would think Sony might release a more expensive Z2 that had 1440x1080 CCDs.

I tell ya what, Steven, after I drop by the RED booth, I'll go check the Sony booth first before anything else and see if there's anything new that would suggest a price drop or see if they flat-out have something new/better. =)

Unlikely, Sony has flat out stated that they don't consider 720p high definition, even in it's 50p/60p form.

I think it's more accurate to say that Sony simply decided not to go down the 720 road. There's no question that 720 *is* High Definition, after all, any format with just one pixel more than standard def is considered as HD. 720p is the same data rate as 1080i and is just as HD as 1080i.

I'm holding out as well. If Sony implement 720p, I would definitely go with the Z1. If not for sure is going to be GY-HD100.

Well, I agree with Dylan Pank that 720p is unlikely to come from Sony.

Why not just ask for 1080p and say goodbye to interlacing forever?

Hmmm

I do however hope that something comes of NAB, I would love to save some dough, but I am comfortable with my shopping list so far.
