Using the HVR-Z7 with Canon LANC Controller at DVinfo.net

Hi all,
When the first result in my web-search for the Sony RM-1BP Remote Commander came up at AUD600+tax I just got the idea to try the old Canon ZR-1000 Zoom Remote Controller, which I used with the Canon XM2 (GL2) and it worked perfectly, even the 5 zoom speeds!
If anyone in the Video-Community has knowledge that it could adversely affect the Z7, could you please let me know. I have not read anything about that in previous threads.

Nope, you should be good. Lanc isn't proprietary I believe just like mic/headphone ports.
