Re: Are we going to get an update anytime soon?

I do not think the missing feature was an oversight on Sony's part. when Sony came out with the Nexus line they cleary stated that the NX5 was the first in a line of Nexus family camcorders.

I full expect Sony to come out with a NX-- that will have upgraded features and be the next step up from the NX5

Unfortunately in this case, I would have to agree with you. I just don't see them adding functionality when they can release newer upgraded cameras. Please Sony please, prove me wrong.

Re: Are we going to get an update anytime soon?

I was at BVE in London last week and Sony had a mock-up prototype NXCAM on their stand. I looked like a the NX5 but with adjustable lenses and a larger sensor, although I did not ask them about it. Very much in the vain of the Panasonic AF100

Yes I know it's not a full update but an interesting related product in the NXCAM range. It seems to be all about the sensor size and depth of field, but man I wouldn't want to use it for events for sure.

HXR-NX70U... to be released about July down under so US and elsewhere sooner... a large single chip camera but
I notice it has the option for 1080/60p ... with a bit rate of 28Mbps

Pity there is no firmware update for the NX5

Re: Are we going to get an update anytime soon?

The sensors and/or processor in the NX5U may not be up to doing 60p the only thing I would be interested in an upgrade for as most of the other attributes are already on the NX5U. Other things of interest would be touch spot focus like the consumer cameras or automatic expanded focus like on my new CX700 ( if set then if the manual focus control is used it goes into expended focus and when the control is released it returns to normal mode).
