anyone ever hear of a company called MemoryStar I can source 64 GB SDXC here in Ireland for €50 which is about $66. Not sure if they'd be any good tho!!
they claim class 10 and guarantee transfer speeds of minimum 10MB/sec. Backed by 10 years warranty.
As i said before - a bit nervous of putting all the eggs in one basket.

Re: SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-1 64GB SDXC Card

Thanks for the Sony NX5U compatibility report! I've been eyeing the 32GB cards for several months now. I might just go ahead and splurge on the 64GB.

The Extreme Pros are great cards. I have an earlier generation 16GB 45MB/s. Those things are just built well, solid. If you are doing a paid gig and rely on a flimsy cheap cards which dies after a day of shooting, well, didn't actually save much money.

Another feature, and reason to go with 64GB over 32GB is the wear leveling. The memory is only rated for 100,000 cycles (estimating, I didn't look at the specs for these particular cards). Wear leveling keeps track of how many times each sector has been written and spreads out the sector usage.

Write speed doesn't make much difference for NX5U video. The AVCHD is coming in at 24MBs, like clockwork, literally, and I'm sure the writing code isn't much tailored for variances. Write speed does make a difference in the DSLR, though, for stills.

2K/4K cameras anyone? There are newer camera coming out with higher resolution. I haven't seen what media they are using. Possibly useful with these fast SDXC.

Fast read speed is also nice, though you won't see much over 50MB/s on USB2. For 90MB/s you'll need USB3 (or Thunderbolt?). Dumping 25GB could go from about 15 minutes to about 5.

Never heard of them. But a class 10 card should have a much faster transfer rate; around 45 mb/s.

thanks,
yeah i was tempted as it's really cheap and fast, but i couldn't find anything about the company or the product's reliability, so for the time being i've given it a miss!!

I do use our professional NX5 with these 2 cheap Transcend 32 GB class 10 SDHC cards. They're just € 27 each. Is there anything wrong with that choice?

I have been using the 32Gig class 6 as well as the new 64Gig Transcend cards with my NX5U and Ax2000 without any issues whatsoever since day one, they are a good solid dependable card....

I too have been using 2 32GB Transcend class 10 cards since Feb 2011. Not a single issue. I've recorded dance recitals that go for about 4 hours, and never had a single issue.

I'm not sure. Seems like maybe since the FMU is 128 GB and the NX5 records to that, it should be able to?

I can see where this card would be useful if Sony upgrades the NX5U to do 4K video. LOL

As it stands though, I'm personally satisfied with my dual 32GB soultion :)

Re: SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-1 64GB SDXC Card

Nothing wrong with the Transcend 32GB class 10s. I have 4 of them that I have used without any problems. I do have the FMU unit though, so the Transcends are only backups. I would say one thing though. The read speed on the Transcend is slow when compared to a Sandisk. On my 600Ds, I can pull data off a Sandisk Ultra class 10 a lot quicker than the Transcend class 10. A noticable difference. So when offloading a bunch of cards or even offering SDEs, the quick cards will make a difference.
