Buying question with SDHC card

Hey everyone,

Hope everyone is doing well.

I could use your thoughts on some SDHC cards I'm purchasing, for a commerical shoot coming up next Thursday,

In the past I've bought Class 10 SDHC 32GB of either Transcend, Sandisc, or Sony, that
worked fine with this camera.

As I was price comparising, I'm starting to see some the price has come down for some of the name brands I mentioned, offering either higher capacity (64GB or 128GB) or speed, (45 to 94MB transfer speeds).

My question is can the NX5U handle cards of that magnitude, and have you notice any difference
in the video quality? Have you notice the improvement, in tranfering your files onto storage?
When it comes to editing, has it been a problem handling files from those cards, (either importing or
editing the video file)?

Thanks!

Robert

Re: Buying question with SDHC card

this was discussed before see http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/sony-nxc...sdxc-card.html
I've been looking at cards in excess of 32 Gb but as yet haven't pulled the trigger.

Re: Buying question with SDHC card

As newcomer maybe a silly question, but my manual says the camera uses Memory Stick Pro Duo cards - there is nothing about an sdxc card and they also look different. Are there different versions of the NX5 or is the sdxc card the same design as a Pro Duo card?

Re: Buying question with SDHC card

I bought 12 of these:

Class 10 SD Card | 32GB SDHC UHS-1 Memory Card | SF32UX/TQ | Sony USA

The transfer rate is in the range you are looking for.

The NX5 has dual slots, both slots take either MS or SD cards. Sony doesn't make a big deal of it because they'd rather you buy their proprietary memory sticks.

From page 2 of the manual:

You
cannot use a MultiMedia Card.
• “Memory Stick PRO Duo” media and
“Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo” media are
both called “Memory Stick PRO Duo”
media in this manual.
• See page 101 for the recordable time of
memory cards.
• Up to 32 GB of memory cards are
confirmed to be used with your
camcorder.
