Not completely true about the Canon L lenses going back to fully open when not on a Canon body. They stay at whatever you left them at on a Canon body. I use a combination of Canon DSLRs with the FS100 so just dial in the aperture I want before putting the lens on the FS100 with a dumb adapter and also use a variable ND. Not ideal but better than the impressions given above.
