dumb adapter suck on lens-oh, great!

cowboystudio dumb adapter k mount stuck on a lovely pentax 35-105mm f3.5.

nothing will budge.

no movement at all.

(which is great if the darn thing twisted off!)

i previously had it on a 50mm f1.4 and it twisted off no prob.

i'm sure this has happened to others.

any and all insights would be great.

be well

Maybe get some anti-seizing fluid at the auto parts store and let a drop penetrate into the area for a while. Another option might be application of cold, or heat, or differential temperatures (inner thing make colder, outer thing warmer).

Re: dumb adapter suck on lens-oh, great!

I would not put any oil or anti-seizing liquid within a foot of the lens! It could easily destroy the lens.

I recently had something like this happen with a Mike Tapa adaptor for Nikon.

If it's a K-mount, it's probably not a case of compression as it would be on a screw mount lens. it sounds like a locking pin is not releasing. Is there no release button on the adaptor? Do your other K-mount lenses utilize some type of locking mechanism? Compare a lens and see where it might be hanging up. Is there a way to disassemble the adaptor?

Similar issue here, a no-name "dumb" adaptor's release pin sheared off. You should be able to use a safety pin, straightened paper clip or jewelers screwdriver to access the release pin. I've been looking at some (hopefully) sturdier options on ebay. Found one here and ordered it a few days ago.
