First attempt: NEX-FS700 with RAW recorder
We have a NEX-FS700 than just came back from getting upgraded.
HXR-IFR5 firmware 1.11 AXS-R5 firmware 2.0 We are up and running! So cool we can record RAW and 1080 simultaneously. 240fps 2k continuous available. Awesome. |

Re: First attempt: NEX-FS700 with RAW recorder
Nice!
I would really be interested to know how image quality drops off as the scene gets darker. My small sensor high-speed cams' IQ drops off rapidly, on over-cast skies, but look okay in the sunshine. What's the current total cost of your set-up? Is it practical for run & gun? Mark Watson |

Re: First attempt: NEX-FS700 with RAW recorder
Costs:
Camera interface HXR-IFR5 ($2200) RAW recorder AXS-R5 ($5350) RAW media AXS-512S24 ($1800) RAW media card reader AXS-CR1 ($550) The weight of the rig goes up with adding all the accessories and a v-mount battery. You still need the original battery in the camera to power it. With the interface and recorder on rails the length of the entire rig is probably longer than an F5. The key is, with this set-up, if you already own an FS700, 4k is only $9900 away. |
