Showing nothing but green
Hello.
I turned on my VX-2100 after not using for a few weeks and the image is green and red. I checked it with the video out and the same thing happens. I'm guessing that the blue CCD has gone bad. Is there anything that I should be checking? I live in Connecticut - anyone know of a good repair shop for these cameras? Thanks Jim |

You should also check with Sony regarding any possible CCD recalls. There were a huge number of Sony-made CCD's which failed and the company was running a recall program where they would replace them at no charge. This was a couple years ago however, so you may have missed the window. See these old threads:

They extended the recall until Sept. 30th. Here's the link:
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/new...&mdl=DCRVX2100 Just sent a TRV19 in for the "all black" symptom. They had it repaired and on the way back to me in less than 48 hours, no charge.

Called Sony
I called Sony and they will repair the camera for free, with free shipping.
I'm glad the problem happened now and not during my last wedding or a future job. Thanks for the help. Jim |

That's good news Jim.
That's the big catch in this recall, they won't replace the sensor unless it starts showing symptoms. You can't do preventive maintenance and get it replaced in between jobs.
