anyone know of a place where i might locate a vx2000 eyecup ?

You should be able to find a replacement for the PD-150 eyecup, which I assume is the same. Go to this link and enter "DSRPD150" in the Model Number field, then click the Search button: https://servicesplus.us.sony.biz/sony-parts.aspx
