0% or 7.5%?

I am capturing/editing with Matrox RT.X100 and Adobe Premiere Pro. The majority of my work is exported to DVD, but some also goes directly out to VHS.

Should I shoot on 0% or 7.5% setup in the PD170? Let's say I shoot on 0%..When (if ever) in the capture/edit/output process is there a converion to NTSC-7.5%? Is there a conversion back to 0% for DVD? Or maybe it's always at 0%, unless I output to analog tape?

Digital video is zero, it's always zero. If you need to add setup, you should add it on conversion of digital to analogue. Therefor you should keep your digital video, on your camera, on your NLE, on your DVD zero.

Easiest way for you to add setup to get to VHS is record your DVD onto VHS because your DVD player will be adding setup on analogue output.

Great infomercial!

Thanks Lou,
That was probably the best infomercial I've ever seen! JVC stayed away from needless advertising until everything about 7.5&0 was explained. Thanks for the link.
