Timecode Stamp

Does VX2000 put "timecode stamp" on tape each time I start/stop recording and is that accessable via Firewire? Reason for question is my new video editing software will capture and arrange clips using timecode stamp from Firewire connection to select each clip, IF camcorder puts a timecode stamp on. Before experimenting and not knowing if I am having problem with software or if camera just does not put timecode stamp on thought I would ask this forum. Thank you.
