vx 2000 problem
yes i have tried using a tape cleaner. but it didn't work. is it possible that it was caused by it being jarred?

If it were a strong jar, maybe. IF the 2000 has a lot of use on it, it could be time for new heads.
I'd try the cleaning routine a few more times. 5-10 seconds max per cleaning at least one minute apart for each cycle. One assumes you have tried to record and play back a separate (new) tape with the same results.
