price drop for the PD170?

So after the rebate do you think the price of the PD-170 will drop or stay the same? With the new HD camera coming out I just wonder if it might change the price. It's one of those should I buy now or wait!!!

If you're an early adopter of other technologies (CD, Mini disc, Betamax, DVD, BlueTooth camera phone etc) then why wait? You know you're going to pay the price for being first but you delight in getting there before the next guy. I've no problem with that - because it makes the technology cheaper, better and more affordable for those that follow a year behind.

I think the 170 will stay static now. It looks good and can hold its own alongside the XL2 and DVX100A, and until Canon and Panasonic join in this hiDef game Sony can really make up prices on the spot.

If I were buying this side of March, I'd buy a PD170 right this minute. If I were planning to replace my VX2000 next summer, I'd wait and see.

tom.

I'd want to get it before the rebate ends.

The rebate ends Jan 1, 2005. I just bought one. The price is right.
