best adapter ring for 3x3 chrosziel matte box
Hi !
I have a PD170 and a chrosziel 3x3 mattebox, and I would like to get the adaptor ring to be able to put it on the 58mm screw mount of my camera. My question is : What difference is there between the "normal" shape (ref. S1001-58SR) and the "funnel shape" (ref. S1001-58A). Is there a better one or both would do the job equally well ? My feeling is that I'd better buy the "normal" one, as the filters would be closer to the lens, so the possible dust or little scratches on them would be as much as possible out of the DOF (same problem with the 'promist' and such filters, that have a little structure built on them). What do you think of it ? |

Your question would best be answered by anyone from the professional video department at B & H. They will hook you up, big time. (800) 606-6969

the purpose of the "funnel" shaped adapter ring is to move the mattebox forward far enough to clear the microphone and allow the rotation and changing of filters. This was a problem on the VX1000, I am not certain if it is an issue on the PD170- as the previous poster suggested, check with a knowledgeable dealer or email the manufacturer.
Moving the mattebox forward this small amount will not have any negative effects on image quality. Good luck
