PD150 owner's manual applying to pd170

I have a pd170 cam but only a pd150 manual - is there anything new in the 170 manual worth noting?

After much deliberation I've forgone the chance to play with HDV in favour of a DSRPD-170P. Existing VX2000 2nd cam + older FCP station = HDV seemed illogical although tempting i.e. no money to buy new camera AND new HDV edit capability AND HD mon etc.

The real concern was 16:9 for me...so I jumped at this kit with an anamorphic lens @ USD$3500 but every glowing review of FX1 brings me buyer's chill ;-)

DSR-PD170P (tape run 3 x 10h, drum run 6 x 10h)
NP-F960
Century Optics 16:9 anamorphic lens
Portabrace cover
Pelican case
ACV-Q800 charger

I'm putting my faith in SD for years to come - my PAL market will adopt HD slower I feel than NTSC, and I don't see my wedding client demographic moving enmasse into blue-ray...

Much appreciated - great support here and better than the $50 Sony quoted me even though he acknowledge the "too big to send" PDF on his system!

good thinking mark.

i can't believe the lemming like rush to hd / 16:9 - nothing like hype to get the unknowledgible opening their wallets...

i do docos and the like, with a few tvc's and corporates - i have offer 16:9 (pd170) and explained it's advantages and disadvantages - and the general concensus is; if not everyone is going to see it 'properly', best do it so everyone sees it right!

as for the odd wedding i do - goodness, they're happy the pics are as clear as the stills, and what do i mean? 'wide screen"

then again, here in oz, we take our time, don't we....

Yes - the Australian government seems concerned enough hold an inquiry into the slow take-up of digital....only to discover what everybody already knows.

(too little offered vs too high a cost of entry for DTV/HD)
