Slight whine?
I just turned on my VX2100 in a dead silent room and noticed a whine/hum coming from the tape deck in both record and playback mode. When I turn the camera off you can hear the whine powering down. In memory mode, or with no tape in the deck the whine is non existent. In my room with my PC on (where I've done stuff with my camera like checking tapes and capturing) the sound of the fan from my PC is enough to drown out the noise (unless I put my ear right to the deck). I've captured only about an hour's worth of footage with the camera.
Stupid question, but I'm paranoid when it comes to my children. Is this whine something totally normal and I'm only hearing it now because it's the first time I've ever been in a totally silent room with it, or is it the signs of a problem? Hard to describe the sound exactly, it's a whine but less sinister sounding. More of a mechanical "hum". |

Both my PDs had or have a slight whine, so does my VX1000 and the JVC5000-never been a problem for me nd the 150s have well over 1000 hours of operation and 900 hours of tape run thru them BUT if you would feel better then take it in and have it checked.
