30 frames per second and White Balance?

I am borrowing a friend's VX2000 for some video I am going to be doing. I will be using two cameras, the other being the Canon XL1. I would like to make the picture from both cameras look as close to each other as possible. I would like to use the 30 frame per second "Frame mode" on the XL1. Can the VX2000 mimic this? Would I just set the shutter speed to 1/30 and close the iris a bit to get a similar effect?

I do not have the benefit of the manual. Is there a way to achieve manual white balance with this thing?

Thanks in advance.
