XD-CAM 35MB footage into FCP PROREZ 422?

Can't you just transcode the HD footage into Prorez 422 without any new updates? Or do we need new plug ins?

Once ingested you can transcode to anything you like (including ProRes422 if you have FCP6) ... no plug in's or update required.
At present there is no direct route that allows you to transcode to ProRes as part of the ingest process, although that may indeed be an option if and when the expected FCP update to its Log and Transfer function arrives with support for XDCAM EX
cheers

But I understand you will need a plugin to "unwarp" the .mp4 the files are stored in. I believe Sony will be releasing that as a free download at the time the camera ships.

Actually, the BM Intensity Card does just that.

EDIT: You will probably need the Intensity Pro as the EX doesn't have an HDMI out..or does it?

AJA also has a box (not really a card) that converts to ProRes and sends it to FCP.

The AJA ioHD. Its $3495 USD, and one of my new favorite production toys.

I am becoming quite the fanboy for that thing.
