Again though, cost is more. Way more. Camera body, lens, discs, disc reader/burner, batteries, charger-bigger camera, bigger expense to set up and run.
The single layer discs are 23.5 gb so you were pretty close, Don. ;-)

The new XDCAM discs are 50gb but will only be utilized by the newer cameras and decks such as the F335/355 F75 and PDW-700, as well as the PDW-U1 stand alone drive.

The disc reader/burner is completely optional as the camera can be used as a deck.

What I am thinking is to use the one F350 as the FOH camera ,with a long lens. The rest of the cams are EX's. It would be simple to get them to match. right?

How about the new sony hdv's with interchangeable lens. I know 1/3 inch chips aren't as good, but would one of those stand up to an EX1. Also I think that with the 2/3 adaptor there is a magnification factor, so I wouldn't need a super expensive lens.
